Hi All,
Warm Greetings !!

I purchased a laptop with Windows 8.
I purchased windows 8.1 Pro UPGRADE LISENCE KEY and upgraded my laptop.
Everything is working fine.

Recently I have replaced the HARD DISK in my laptop using the factory shipped recovery
disks ,I have restored the HARD DISK to windows 8 factory shipped OS.

The problem is WINDOWS IS NOT GETTING ACTIVATED with that factory shipped OS.

Also I don't want to use my windows 8.1 Pro UPGRADE LISENCE KEY for this laptop.
I am building a new desktop.I want to use this for it.(Since only one machine is allowed)

Please suggest what to do ?

What I have read is : Windows 8 encrypts the key in BIOS.So when I have upgraded to Windows 8.1 pro did it overwrite the BIOS key.
Also since I changed my Hard Disk and Installed from RECOVERY MEDIA DISKS sent by manufacturer ,since I am not cloning the old hard disk, does this has something to do with the DIGITAL LISENCE RIGHTS ?

-basically, you want to activate your laptop on 8.x with the vendor BIOS key and it is not working.
- check to see if you have internet connectivity, if you do then
Call the hardware vendor and make it their problem, They put the key in BIOS, They will know the issue even if they will not tell you.

-Do not provide your own key,

EDIT: the second issue is you entered in your new product key on you laptop and activated it. you will want to call microsoft and have the key transfered to your new machine when you build it.

-as a side note: often the vendor will have put the key on a sticker under the battery rather than in the BIOS. depends the the vendor.
