A friend wants me to put together a computer for him for 500 dollars so he can upgrade later on when he has the money. Just seeing if there are better options than what I have put together. Already have OS and peripherals.

Ah, ok. Yea if you have it you can use it for now, just be careful if you oc. That mobo will work with it, but the le version has no heatsinks on the vrms(& i think a lower power phase- 4+1 if i remember) So your oc would be limited (non le version has heatsinks/vrm) So yes, it will be fine at stock but with oc'ing with no heatsinks be careful...is allbout budget&can be hard, if you can push $10 for non le though i would(if budget allows). If 1600 is a couple of £ more, that would be good too, but 1333 will run everything fine aswell if its too much cost. Not seen the red wd much so cant say, alot of people often swear by the blue, i hope this helps!

If you plan to oc, change your mobo, msi 970 boards are known to throttle the fx cpu's. The asus m5a97(or evo) are pretty solid, maybe change psu to a seasonic, antec or xfx&possibly ramp that ram upto 1600 if you can? Hope this helps.

I made a few modifications to the list for not too much more money. I am going with the cx500 because I have an unopened one laying around that I never used so I am going to make some money back that way. I figured 1333 mhz ram would be enough for right now and is this mobo a good choice? He will prob overclock some in the future aftter buying a cpu cooler.
