Simple question, SLI my GTX 670 or get the single most powerful car I can afford in the newer generation? My other option is wait for the 900 series and see what they offer when those get released! Your opinions would be welcome, just remember to be polite. :bounce:

The new cards are supposed to have integrated ARM chips to help make the GPU more independent from the CPU. However, TSMC won't be ready for 20nm until June or July so, any performance gains of the next gen would be minimal in comparison to the 20nm generation. If I were you I'd wait until CES is over. nVidia may unveil the new cards at CES. However, 670 SLI would be extremely fast.

Could you idiot proof the acronyms for me? ARM, TSMC and CES please!

No problem!

ARM: Its a company that mainly makes mobile CPUs for smartphones. The idea in the case of the graphics card is to put a mini CPU on the graphics card to give it more performance in games.

TSMC: Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company - it's where all the actual GPUs are made for both AMD and nVidia. Cards are built currently on 28nm. 28nm is both bigger and produces more heat than 20nm. 20nm will be cooler and smaller which will give more performance.

CES: Consumer Electronics Show - it's going on right now! It's where the tech companies typically unveil their new technology.

Hope this helps!

Also, Check out these reviews of 670 SLI performance so you can get an idea of what the results would be.

In reality 670s in SLI will last you a LONG time. That's a lot of GPU power.

I will hold off on the 800 series then, Last year Nvidia claimed to release the 800 series first quarter so no later than March. Thank being said too early for the date you provided for 20nm (got no idea what nm stands for cause I always forget). I may check out those links and decide whether I will wait on the 900 series cards or SLI my 670! Thanks for all your info and your advice winningsince1337! :bounce:
