Hey Guys!

Its all in the title. I know there are a lot of similar questions out there but I just want to make sure that based on my personal specs if it is possible to crossfire a 280x and 7970 gigabyte OC version. Here are my specs: Intel Core i5-4670k, Gigabyte Z87-D3HP motherboard, Gigabyte Radeon 7970 HD O/C edition, Patriot 2133 mhz Viper 8gb ram, Antec 750 watt 80 gold plus high current pro power supply unit, 7200rpm Western Digital 1TB blue hard drive, 128 gb Crucial M4 solid state drive, D5 Vario pump, 7 120mm fans (2 sp120 HP, 2 Koolance HP 120x25, 3 XSPC fans) and 3 300mm fans, DVD drive , and Recon fan controller. To me, it seems like too much for a 750 watt but I just want to know your guy's opinion! So my PSU is ANTEC 750 Watt continuous power 80+ gold PSU. I don't plan on overclocking.

7970 CF has a minimum recommendation of 800W, 280x CF 900W, so I'm guessing your mix should have a recommendation of 850W or so.

I went to http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine and tried to select something like system. I got a total of 773W. Your actual total may very well be under 750W, but still it's too close to the PSU's max for my taste.

I'd get a larger PSU, e.g. 850W or even 1000W. Keep in mind that the closer you are to 100% of the PSU's max, the more noise you get from it, and efficiency is typically not at its best when close to max capacity either.

Seriously??? Two graphics cards with a TDP of 250W each, CPU rated 84W, those alone are close to 80% of 750W. How did you come up with "not even hitting 50%"?

because do you think any game is really maxing everything
im running sli on 500watt bronze and i still only pull 413 watts from the wall
2 gtx 760s overclocked to 1 ghz
i7 4770k @4.7 1.39 volts
custom loop water cooling
so i dont see how he is pulling more than 50% from his power supply

Or get a second PSU and connect one card on that one. Probably a cheaper alternative if you already have a 750 W PSU. If you're buying from scratch then follow the above.
