I just take out the old RAM, put in the new RAM, and turn it on right? Someone spoke about resetting a 'CMOS' or something like that. My board is an Asus M2A-VM HDMI and I'm installing 8gb (2x4gb) of DDR2 RAM.

Solution

Hmm expensive server ram, and slower than what your board supports... hmm...

Just make sure you turn off the computer completely, unplug the power cable, and then press the power switch on the pc case to discharge any excess power still in the system before doing it.

And I hope you bought the right ram:
dual-channel un-buffered DDR2 1066 (AM2+) and DDR2 800 (AM2) memories support
