System Restore fails (fresh system install)

I am on a fresh install of my Windows 7 system. I performed a System Restore due to certain operational problems (selected "a different restore point") and it failed.

Why did my System Restore fail? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks...

The system reformat/reinstall was on 1/4. I select a restore point of 1/7 that failed.
This happened several times before the reinstall also and I wish to figure out why.

Besides, if there's no restore point to go back to, it shouldn't be listed on my screen.
