Motherboards have whats called a qualified vendors list which specifies the types of memory that can be used with that specific model of motherboard. You can have memory not work with certain motherboards, it's not a common thing but it does happen.
i find it hard to believe it wouldn't work on an intel system. i, personally, have never had any memory not work on any board i ever purchased it for, and most of the time it never was on any list. i don't even look.
