so I was looking at some microcenter bundles and I was looking at the cpu/mobo bundles they had and I was initially looking at the i5 3570k with an asrock z77 extreme4 mobo for 279.98 but i kept looking and found a bundle with the i5 4670k and MSI z87 g-41 for 254.98. I wasn't sure which one to get because I know there isn't much of a difference between the 3570k and 4670k and I heard the 4670k tends to overheat and I know the z77 extreme 4 is a great budget mobo but it's also an older version mobo. basically I'm asking for anyones input. I waso also wondering why the 4670k bundoe was so much cheaper. is the mobo complete crap?
thanks

Sounds like you have your decision right there, however that MOBO is pretty much as bare bones as they come. Thats not a bad thing, but if you plan to OC at all it might be worth spending a little more money and getting a board with a few more phase voltage regulator and more OC options in the bios.
Heres an MSI board thats only $20-$30 more and is a significantly better board:

The i5-4670k runs a little hotter than it's older counterpart, the i5-3570k, but does not overheat.

At stock, the i5-4670k will be about 5-10% faster than the i5-3570k.

The 4670k is still able to overclock quite well, you kind of just the luck of the draw depending on whether or not you get a golden chip.

Oh, and if I remember correctly, Z87 boards (4670k) come with more/better features than the 3570k and their Z77 boards. So inspect the features and whatnot of the boards before you decide and choose which one fits your needs the best.

This is still a difficult decision, I would entirely go with the i5-4670k but i know nothing about the Mobo (MSI z87 g-41). I really wanna just go for that bundle since 1.) It's cheaper (oddly) 2.) It's newer/more advanced.
