I have 64x win7
everything has been fine
recently upgraded both my hard drives
they work fine, however.........

after i formatted them (2 drives) i created 2 partitions on each one
then restored my images to them

they function ok however the icon for the second drive / first partition is not that of a hard drive in the windows file explorer

when i look at all 4 drive C,D (drive 0) and F,G (drive 1)
drive F;s icon in the file manager window is not an icon of a hard drive
but all the others are
It shows F as an SD/MMC but its a hard drive.

I have a DVD as E drive
and an actual SD/MMC as my H drive

everything else looks ok
just the F hard drive after the upgrade is having an identity crisis but works

hope its an easy fix, any suggestions?

it still works but i want to correct this issue anyway

thanks in advance

Hello southerncalm, i want to ask that what exactly happened explain it a more descriptive and you have only problem with icon or you observe any other changes in your F drive

as stated
laptop came with 2 hard drives each 320G
each partitioned into 2 each
Drive 0 = C and D drives
Drive 1 = F and G drives
never had an issue

2 years later i bought 2 1TB drives to upgrade it
installed both, formatted both correctly
partitioned both into 2 drives with logical drives
So again Drive 0 = C, D drive and Drive 1 = F,G drive
reinstalled from drive images

All went well
all work fine
No malfunction no adjustments or tweaks needed
all original software works after the image restore exactly same as when image was made

the only abnormality is visual

when i open the windows explorer and look at my drives

it shows all of them and they all function correctly
however the laptop thinks the F drive is an SD/MMC and reflects this in the icon shown on the windows explorer GUI

I have an SD/MMC reader but no problem with it (letter or icon)

some reason it shows the F drive (first partition of drive 1) as if it is an SD/MMC rather than a hard drive
but it works fine, no lost size etc.

there is no loss of function

just a cosmetic issue of the pc thinking its an SD rather than a HD and shows SD Icon
