Hey eveyone!

Recently got a Asus Xonar DGX pci-e soundcard, now my problem is whenever i play a game i get buzzing and whining from my headphones.. The front headsetjack isnt even connected to the soudncard as i dont use that. I can still hear the buzzing even if i mute the sound ingame.. Its strange the buzzing stops as soon as i press exit game.. seams to react to the gpu for some reason..?

now the card works wonder outside of gaming, Music and Movies works flowlessly.
headphones is the roccat kave 5.1 :)

any ideas?

Thanks!!

specs:
windows 8.1
i5-3570k at 4.0
Asrock z77 extreme 4
GTX 670
corsair 16gb ram
be quiet! PowerSupply (PSU) Pure Power L7 730W

EDIT: sorry seems it doubleposted :/

It's due to electric interference from your GPU being under load. The interference is being picked up by the sound card, causing it to be heard on your headphones. It's strange that is it happening with your headphones plugged into the back, but not completely unreasonable.

Try and move the sound card as far away from the GPU as possible. Also increase the volume in the game, and then turn your headphones down if they have inline volume control.

If you're plugging your headphones into the front of your PC, that is your integrated/onboard audio card unless you made the cable changes when installing the card also. Do you get the buzz if you plug your headphones directly into the Xonar soundcard at the back of your computer?

@optimus its already the farthest from the gpu, tho that does put it nearest the PSU, does that matter?

@skit75 its already connected thru the back and yeah, still getting that Buzz..

it varries from game to game, it makes skyrim barely playable and others its just minimal..

Yeah, those were the only ones avaible when i downloaded, should i pick some other driver?

also, I took a look into the case, I have the 12V cpu Power Cable running ontop the motherboard as it couldnt reach its place if i went behind it, now that Cable touches the undersides of both the soundcard and GPU, maybe that could be the problem ?

Would plugging it into a PCI-E x16 fix it ? have it in a PCI-E x1 atm

As Optimus_Toaster suggested, try moving it to the furthest slot away from the GPU. The PCI-E slot it is in won't matter so much as the actual distance you can create from the GPU. If all else fails you can try to re-route the +12V CPU supply cable.

Allright, well it is at its farthest atm, going to buy a extension cable for the 12v CPU cable tomorrow and try it.. Hopefully that works.. If not well I have no idea, didn't think it'd be this much hassle getting a soundcard to work :p
will keep you posted on how it goes!

The soundcard is working. It is just picking up interference from the GPU while under heavy load indicating you have a component on your GPU singing its butt off. If that is the case, the +12V extender won't help at all.

Nah it didn't help that much :p..
Found a workaround, my headphones, Roccat Kave have three 3.5mm inputs and a usb for power, and inline mixer for front/center/rear.. after alittle of playing and trixin, found that it was only the center and rear to get that wierd sound.. so i just lowered all the volume for it in the inline mixer and poof gone.. basicly i just use my 5.1 headphones as a 2.1 :p better than getting an annoying Buzz..

Thanks everyone for the help!

if you know anything that might solve this please tell ^^
