I have a Phenom II x4 that I overclocked to 3.7 ghz, I just recently picked up a R9 270X and was very happy with it.

Then for christmas my gf got me another one for crossfire, I've been running the two for about a week now and I am very impressed...

I was curious to know if I am bottlenecking my GPU's and if so what AMD processor would you recommend as an upgrade?

Thanks,
Bob

Solution

It will do Quad-GPU CrossFireX.

Are you are experiencing any issues while gaming? If not your probably fine for now. What motherboard are you using? If it's a AM3+ you could upgrade to the FX CPUs. You need to check the manufacturer's website to see what FX models they support. Some of the newer ones are the FX-6350 is a Six core 4.2Ghz model, and the FX-8350 is a Eight core 4Ghz model.

I dont see much really, Occasionally it will glitch but i am assuming its due to the old hard drive I am using for games (I've got another ssd coming in the mail). And I am 95% positive my board doesn't support AM3+... any suggestions to a board and cpu for under 400$?

If you have a $400 budget for a board and CPU you can easily afford an 8350, a Hyper 212 Evo if you don't already have a solid heatsink, and a nice OCable MoBo with a 970 or 990 chipset. Or an ASUS Crosshair Formula, an FX-6300, and a nicer heatsink if you really want to OC and have a top end MoBo. ASRock also makes a nice 990FX Fatal1ty MoBo.

We could do this combo and see if it fits your budget:
