Getting low FPS in Skyrim with a gtx 670, despite OCing

I have a lot of mods installed, but I can't help but feel my FPS is being somehow capped. I have a 2gb EVGA gtx 670. For some reason my FPS hovers around 30, but I feel like this card should pull 60+ easy. The most notable mods I have are RealVision ENB, Skyrim Texture 2k, Vivid Landscapes All-in-one, and Flora Overhaul. My graphics setting is on ultra with AA and Anisotropic Filtering turned off.

I don't OC normally, but I tried OCing my gtx 670 with Nvidia Inspector. I played around with some the settings, some of which made me CTD. But, even utilizing presets that bumped my Base Clock Offset into the 800 mhz range and my Memory Clock Offset to around 3k mhz, I didn't get any kind of increase in fps.

I've also changed a setting in the Skyrim ini that I read turns off vysnc, but this also didn't help. It just fixed motion blur between frames when looking around.

So, what gives? Is my card just getting old? Would I need like a 780 gtx to run what I'm trying to do and get 60+ fps?

It's the ENB and the flora overhaul. ENB is stupidly demanding (though it looks amazing) so I would recommend lowering grass density or even disabling that mod entirely. I used flora overhaul for a long long time, but when I went to 1440p I couldn't run it anymore and tbh I haven't really missed it.

Another thing you can do is tweak the ENB settings, things like ambient occlusion, dof and skylighting can all be turned off to increase FPS. Press shift and enter in game to open the ENB config menus and have a play around. Don't forget to hit save config if you adjust the settings to something you want to keep.

How do I check my VRAM usage, and how do I disable framerate cap in the driver? Also, I changed iPresentInterval to 0 in the .ini, which I read disables vsync. This didn't help either.

I'm using an ENB off Nexus. Originally I was using RealVision, but I downloaded a different one that has actually helped my FPS tremendously. Anyway, when you check off "effect" under "global", it doesn't matter what you check off in the other setting, since the global effect enabled the mod off Nexus. I'll give the flora overhaul thing a try, but it just looks so good!

Yep, that's what disables Vsync. If you have a profile in the Nvidia control panel make sure Vsync is Off or Application Controlled. You can use GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner to view your VRAM usage and GPU temps/clockspeeds/load while gaming. You should be able to use the Flora Overhaul just fine - maybe also use Grass on Steroids, that's what I'm using. It may be the ENB that's killing your framerate (the DOF is really demanding) - although we still don't know what resolution you're playing at.

Yes, it most certainly is the RealVision mod. When I disable the effect and use the OriginalPostProcessing setting instead, I get ~60 fps. Basically the point of this thread was to troubleshoot and think of ways to increase my fps while still using the mod. Also, can I check VRAM in Nvidia Inspector? I already have that installed.

I'd check your background processes. Sometimes they can really lower your fps. Hit CTRL + ALT + Esc to view your processes. If one is really high and its just running in the background then end it. It may also be your mods. You could try running the game without them and see if that helps.

it's the floral overhaul, change the size of the grass, I use seasons of skyrim ENB, HD trees, Floral Overhaul, and HD Skyrim among other texture/mesh/graphical mods, and at minimum I get around 30 ish FPS, and this is with a lowered grass size too. Go into your Skyrim.ini and change the grass size to around 50 or so (small the number the bigger the grass, default is 20)

(have a GTX 670 also)

and no it's not your card, it's the stupidly demanding HD grass that's causing issues, with the flora mod, the number of things you have to render in a single cell is enormous. I can run BF4 at Ultra with an average of 60+ FPS but I can barely run a fully modded Skyrim at 40 average, it's the game not the card.

Yeah that's what I assumed. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet. I disabled vsync, disabled AAing in both the game and my Nvidia control panel, and basically did every basic step to increase performance -- all of which either doesn't help, or gives a negligible boost. Oh well, the game looks so good with RealVision. I'd rather deal with it, than install another ENB that looks half as good.

trust me, lower the grass size, it gave me a boost of about 10 FPS on average, grass is just crazy, they didn't make that "Dat Grass" mod for nothing, it drops even the most powerful rigs to their knees, all for the sake of picture perfection.

I have to admit though, RealVision is pretty damned demanding and I opted for another ENB because I was too scared to try it lol.

Good show. Try Grass on Steroids, seriously - then you can set grass size at 80 and still have a TON of grass, like I'm sure you're looking for. Also try Dynavision combined with RCRN and ELFX if you want an ENB-like experience for cheap. I'm running at 50+fps @1080p with those. And if you're not using the Performance version of RealVision, try that.
