looking for a decent graphics card

My brother just gave me an old desktop of his for Christmas because my laptop is so old playing games is a nightmare and he felt bad for me i guess lol, but it doesn't have a graphics card. My total budget is $350 and that includes shipping. I just bought a 1440p monitor ( ASUS PB Series PB278Q). I don't play too demanding games(WoW, LoL, and Civ 5). Which card do you suggest?

Specs:
Mobo- Asus M4A89TD pro/usb3
Cpu- amd 965 black edition
ram- 4gb kingston ddr3 1600
SSD- samsung 840 evo 120gb
HDD- WD blue 1tb
cpu cooler- CM evo 212 with 2 fans
case- antec 902 v3
OS- windows 7 64 bit

850 watt is great for any card. and yes, 1440p will use more than 2gb...in crysis, heavily modded skyrim, or other moderatly demanding games.

for the ones you play, you will maybe max at 1.5. Typically the 760 will run out of processing power before hitting 2gb on vram, and even the 770 will run out of processing power most of the time before you hit that 2gb (meaning frames will be unplayable before running out of vram so you have to turn down settings anyway

the 770 can be had for this price if you find a deal on it, and is about the best you can get for your budget. The 280x is the equivalent card from amd, but due to bitcoin mining has gone up quite substantially, but is -5 to +10 % faster than the 770 depending on how you overclock.

The 770 comes with 3 games at the moment, dont think the amd one does, if it does it is bf4

Your cpu should also not be a problem as far as bottlenecks go, but anything more powerful than the cards i suggested (out of your price range) will require a cpu upgrade. Also listing your psu would be very helpful, as the 280x uses slightly (and i mean like 10-30 watts more) than the 770.

I have a 850w PSU from silverstone(cant say the exact model). i have read on other forum that 2gb of vram is not enought for 1440p in some games. Are the games that i play in that catagory?

You can use the money you have left over on a CPU cooler or something ;)

is my cpu cooler bad for that cpu?

Thanks!!! just ordered it...alrdy excited to try out a real gaming computer and this monitor. hopefully raiding next week i dont see those pauses at the start of every pull lol.
