Hi
So I want to find out what I can max out for this motherboard. I know it's a little older but I'm trying to get as much use out of it as I can.

My motherboard:

It's Rev 3.1 by the by.

And PSU, which is a silverstone 500w.
http://www.silverstonetek.com/product_legacy.php?area=en&model=st50f

My graphics card is an Nvidia GTX 550 Ti, 1gig.
CPU is an AMD FX 4100 Quad core @3.6Ghz
I also have 8g of ram

Would I really get any better performance gaming wise? Particularly from a better graphics card I mean, I'd be happy to just upgrade the graphics card if that's the only component that will give me a little more FPS while gaming.

My budget is up to about $400NZD, give or take.

Thanks a lot.

Best bet, put all the upgrade money into a new GPU....

But, if your budget let's you get to a highend (above a GTX 760 or so...) card, you'll really need a 650watt power supply. Silverstone, Corsair, Antec, XFX all make good supplies....

If that Silverstone is your PSU, you will be fine. It has 36A on the 12v rail, and that 270x won't draw more than 142 watts under load. You'll probably get away with a 450 watt, and Silverstone is a very reputable brand.

Great! Thanks allocco91. I was about to spend another $150-$200 on another psu. Had a look at that card compared to some others in that price range, impressed and at least it will give this machine a bit more life. Thanks again!
