Soooo...

I have a G1.Sniper A88X
(see here: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4683&dl=1#bios)

It shipped with the F2 bios version. I purchased this MB to support AMD Kaveri next week upon release, so I'm trying the F6i bios. I've been trying to use Qflash but it's telling me the the flash is outdated and I need to download it from Gigabyte?? Not sure what that means as there is no such thing in the downloads section.

Under the F5 bios info it reads: "Note: To support FM2+ APUs, be sure to use an FM2 APU to update the BIOS to the latest version with the EFI Flash tool included in the zip file. (For a future BIOS upgrade, you can use either the Q-Flash or the EFI Flash tool. )" I'm not sure what this means, and I'm not sure if this applies to the F6i bios version as well.

I was searching about EFI information, and it said something about DOS. Do I need to create a boot usb drive with the EFI file on it and run that or something? I dont know DOS commands I don't want to ruin my mb :(

I'm lost...Any suggestions?

Thanx in advance!

The easiest and safest way is to use Qflash. Download the latest bios F7, from gigabyte. Then unpack the file. You should have three files. Copy them to a USB drive (with nothing else) that is formatted in FAT32, which is what they usually come in from the manufacturer. Enter into Qflash in BIOS with the USB installed into a 2.0 port. Follow the directions to load the BIOS. The USB will show up as a HDD. Choose it and you should see the three files or sometimes the correct one only shows up. Don't worry about choosing the wrong file. You will get a message saying that it cannot be loaded. If that happens try another of the three files till you get the right one. After BIOS update, load optimized defaults and set up anything...

Use "@bios" it worked for me. The prob is that the bios version it ships with has an outdated Qflash. After you update via @bios, you will be able to use Qflash moving forward with newer bios's. If you'r building a new pc then be sure to use your old FM2 cpu to do the bios update. I had to buy a cheap richland cpu for this...i'll be selling it on ebay soon and I'm sure others will too, just check ebay for $20 richland cpus :p
