I have a Gigabyte gtx 660ti 3gb and i was wondering if i could SLI that with a EVGA gtx 660ti with 2gb. I dont know much about computers, except the fact that i want mine better. If they were capable for SLI would i need watercooling, stronger CPU/motherboard, or PSU? Thanks for helping.

Yes, you can, but the 3gb will only run as a 2gb. Not recommended, and if you want to improve your build, you should look into other options. What is the rest of your build like?

There have been quite a few posts from folk who have been having issues getting 3GB cards to SLi with non 3GB cards, I would suggest you try to get another 3GB card to avoid such headaches.

The reason i wanted to get a 2gb card was because it would be handed down to me from another friend. It would be a free card, is it still not worth having even if its free?

Oh, no it is still worth it. What PSU and motherboard do you have? Those are the important part.

I currently have a terrible amd motherboard called a gigabyte 760g but will soon be upgrading to a Intel one. I dont know the specifics. I have a 500w PSU as well. Since im already here, will it be hard switching from amd to intel motherboards? What do i have to do? I really appreciate everyones help and patience while working with a tech ignorant newbie.

Neither that motherboard or PSU can handle SLI, so you have to wait for the new motherboard to do it, but hold onto the card, it will be worth it. Make sure you get a motherboard that explicitly states it is SLI ready, and a 650w 80+ bronze PSU or higher, I would go with 750 just in case.
As for switching motherboards, you will have to take just about everything out of your computer to do it, but I imagine you knew that. Switching from AMD to Intel is as easy as changing the motherboard and processor.

OK thanks... I was planning on getting a new PSU anyway, although i think making the switch from amd to intel is more important. In that case i will wait on the SLI and prepare myself for those conditions.
