Hi,

Current setup:
CPU: i7-3770k (Not OC'd yet)
GPU: 460 765mb
RAM: 16gb
PSU: CX 600

I am planning to get 3 identical 24" monitors (1980 x 1080) and would like to set them up for Nvidia surround or AMD eyefinity
What would be the best bang for the buck if I go single card?
Budget is quite limited at this point after getting the monitors

Question 1:
Single card set up for triple monitor, what do you recommend?

Question 2:
Can I run it on Daisy chain without any hiccups?

Thank you in advance!

Solution
Yeah GTX 770 is a great card but if you plan on playing modern games on all 3 of them, then its not enough for 60 FPS.

You need either 780 Ti or 770 SLI. I recommend buying a single 770 at the moment and adding another one later.

You may get anything around 30 - 35 FPS with high settings on 5760 x 1080 in Battlefield 4 and even lower in Crysis 3.
If all you got to do is work or rendering then its more than enough.

@2 - Most of the high end cards support 3 displays so connecting them all individually with different cables directly is the best option.

By Daisy chain you mean via DisplayPort Daisy chain, It can be done but the problem is finding monitors that support this feature. You would be better off using a MST Hub (Multi Stream Transport) if you want to drive them all off one DP cable.

With regards to Triple screen setups. if you plan to game across 3 screen top end cards from both Nvidia or AMD will work fine as long as they have 3gb ram or better

Correct, new dell monitors support DP In&Out. I think it is possible. But is it software driven? or does graphic card recognize without an issue?
DVI to DP and daisy chain will work?

I am getting about 30-40 FPS with mid settings on 1920 x 1080 in BF 4 now with GTX 460. 30-35 with high settings on 770 sounds pretty good

In theory They should be recoginzed by the GPU drivers just like a normal monitor as each new monitor is plugged in, but I have had no experience with Daisy chain DP on either GPU so you might be going in blind. But in theory it is all meant to work plug & play

I meant gaming on 3 displays. I barely get 40 FPS on single HD monitor with my 6850 (stronger than 460) so its kind of weird you getting 30 - 40 with 3 displays.

Hey Killbot, thank you very much for putting those together.
I wonder when NVIDIA will release maxwell series.
Is $400 reasonable for 770? or should I wait for little more drop in price?

Didn't mean to confuse you. I thought you were talking about getting those FPS on 3 displays. I was referring to single monitor setup as well :p

I completely agree with you on that. I wanted to know if that was going to happen right around the corner. I think I am gearing towards 770 with 4gb Vram for triple monitor setup. Still need to do more research but thanks for your input! I think I may compare 770 with 280x in the near future before I make final purchase

I would go for 280X considering its price .. More value for money haha

But you got to wait till 13 Feb so they order it back and ship to you. You can still place the order already though.
If you want a card right this instant then GTX 770 4 GB is for you.

If something is sure to happen right around the corner, then its worth waiting I believe and guess what? 3 GB is enough for 3 displays.
