Please help

Hey!!

I am fixing a laptop for a friend, had to reboot her, but in doing so am missing some drivers i cant find anywhere >.< ( bloody drivers )

I dont have broadband as such, am using my iphone on my PC to download drivers , copying to a USB stick and installing on the laptop, so i cant use the website or any driver detecting software from the Internet, hence my frustration

Lenovo t420 4180 - 63g
Windows 7 64bit

Missing drivers

Base system device
Network controller
Sm bus controller
Unknown device ( think this is the wireless card )

Have installed lots of drivers from the Lenovo support/drivers page but none seemed to work,

Help in the right direction would be much appreciated

No you see, she's had it for a while, rebooted it as it was just a mess, she had no driver/mobo discs, and no recovery/repair cd so i used my own windows 7 disc to reboot it,

The problem is, windows 7 did nt load any drivers forthe devices when i installed it, you know in device manager, the ones with the exclamation mark next to them, devices with no drivers,

When i get home from work i will, but the laptop cannot connect to the internet, will this 'solution center' still operate?

An what is Ubuntu? Some sort of Everest programme :p? Is it freeware?

It's an operating system, like Windows, that is free and is based on Linux. It can boot and run from a 2+ GB flash drive. If you have access to a public or friend's computer, you can download it along with the solution center.

Ty for the replies btw

Just install the network drivers on the laptop (Ethernet ones, you can do the wireless with the utility as there are often several different chips that get used), then install the Lenovo System Update utility on the laptop. That will install everything for you. Don't have to find every driver manually.
