Hi guys

I recently bought a new comp, and then moved into a new room where i am no longer the home computer. I have cable internet with a router (now connected to my brothers computer). I am forced to connect to the network through a "Netgear WNA3100" USB adapter.

Now, using this adapter i get lag spikes every time i play League of Legends - not too frequent but still annoying for a competitive player. As far as i can tell, everything else is fine - youtube etc. Just when i play league (league is the only online game i play).

Also, my brother on the same network (he is the home computer connected via cable) gets no lag spikes at all.

Any idea what the problem could be, and any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

OK so try this. Remove the device, then go into your Device Manager, FULLY remove the drivers and do a registry sweep with Ccleaner for example.

Restart and instal from scratch.

Wireless is not perfect unfortunately, and wireless USB is even worse. But maybe we can improve your situation.
So I am not making any promises.
Check for interference between you and the wireless router. For example microwaves.

Plug the USB wireless device in the back of the machine to insure it has enough power.
How many bars are you getting on the wireless?
How far is it on?

Do you use any other wireless connection?

Appreciate the reply!

Regarding interference, i'm not too sure. I have noticed once or twice that while i'm lagging, my sister was on the phone. But it could be coincidence, too early to tell.

Intitially the USB was plugged into the back of the computer and i got the issue, so i swapped it to the front and plugged it into a blue USB slot (which i heard is faster). The problem still occurs. If it helps ill put it in the back again.

For the most part i get 5 bars (the whole thing), occasionally i see it on 4 (mostly when i turn my computer on).

The home router / cable network is just in the next room (my brothers room), so like 6 ish meters away with 1 wall between us.

No i'm only connected to my home network.
