Hey guys, I've been wondering if theres any disadvantage to buying a card within the first few days its release. This seems like a silly question, but I realized that all the video cards ive ever bought I kind of waited a few months to get and I got special editions. Right now im using a 4gb 680gtx, and I was wondering if there would be any advantage to getting a latest model of the 780 ti or if I should buy the first 880 gtx to hit the shelves. Is nvidia known to have hardware problems with their cards at launch? I know software and driver problems are common and normal, but will the hardware be as good as the ones released a year later (based on previous nvidia cards of course, we dont know too much about the 880 so theres no way to know specifically for that card)?

Nvidia has a pretty good reputation of not releasing defective products. If there is something wrong, the card's warranty should cover it.

The main disadvantage of buying a card upon release is that you will often pay more than if you wait a few months. If you are fine with the price that the card is selling for upon release, I would say go for it.
