Hey guys,

I'm really not good with software. Basically turned comp off last night turned it on again; wouldn't start, so it rebooted into chkdsk. It did part 1 fine, part 2 (index check) froze on 11 percent Ive tried running both safe mode and without there is no need I'm assuming for admin as there is only one disk.

not sure if it makes a difference but safe mode stops at 11 percent, while normal stops at 13 percent.

What should I do?

Thanks.

Solution
backup your data. (either skip the check and go to windows and backup your data to another disk) or from another windows, plug this drive it and copy all the data that you need.

i think your hdd is dieing.

Your HDD isn't dying but the data is severely corrupted. Don't try to start the computer, this could make it worse. Plug the drive into another system and salvage what you can. After that do a full format and run CHKDSK again with a surface scan.
