I just bought a new power supply and it has an 8 pin cpu plug. My motherboard has an 8 pin receptor, but prior, 4 of them were capped off.

Im assuming its ok to just take that cap off and plug the 8 pin to the board right?

I almost figured this was common sense, but thought id check first.

thanks

Yup, you need 4 pins connected to "function"....

With all 8 pins connected there is a potential for better/more stable overclocking........... (more pins / contact area lowers resistance and reduces voltage drop under heavy current draw...)
