I have been having a lot of issues with my new rig. I originally had my computer set up with the integrated graphics and standard factory set up of bios. Once I received and installed my graphics card a few days after, my computer started having issues with the CPU heating up way too fast so I removed the graphics card and I am trying to start up my rig and as I start it up, upon logging into the OS my desktop shows for a brief second then the screen goes black to saying no signal. Are the drivers from my graphics card causing this? My CPU is amd a8 6600k quad core, motherboard asrock fm2a85x extreme6, and my graphics card that I removed is a gigabyte Nvidia GeForce gt640. Thank you very much to anyone that replies. I appreciate your time.

I am 95% sure the fan is installed correctly because the fan is hot to the touch when I was tinkering around a bit. I monitored the temperature via the bios because the screen loads there. I'm having a problem with the display when windows pops up, though.

I understand that, which is why I'm asking about CPU temps. What kind of PSU and wattage do you have?

Another step would be to reset the BIOS, which you can do by unplugging the PC, removing the CMOS battery for about a minute, popping it back in and rebooting.

Psu wattage max is 450 and when I started out using my rig, everything including the monitor worked fine until I installed the new gpu. CPU temps rise from 33C to 95C pretty rapidly. I'd say within 10 minutes. I'm not aware of the CMOS battery, though. Where is it and how much will this reset on my computer? Thank you for your time and patience with this.

What GPU did you replace it with, and how old is the PSU? That is some crazy high temps for the CPU.

The CMOS battery is the circle battery that looks like an oversized watch battery on the motherboard. All this will do is reset the BIOS in case something got messed up with it, which is actually pretty common.

Just make sure your PC is unplugged and you leave the battery out for about a minute to make sure it works. This is usually my first step in troubleshooting this kind of problem lol

I'm currently using the integrated graphics card now that I've taken out the other one. I called the manufacturer of the card and they said it works hand in hand with the CPU. I'm going to try the CMOS battery approach when I get home from work. Any other pointers before I have to wait for another response? Ha I really want to get this puppy up and running before the weekend.

I would definitely try the BIOS reset. If that doesn't work, we'll go from there lol

Okay so I tried the CMOS battery removal and it has the same error upon loading my desktop when Hdmi is plugged into motherboard. I tried to see what would happen if I tried putting my gpu back in and using that Hdmi input and now it won't load the screen period. Starting to think I might be hitting max on psu but could it be more than that? Could the CPU overheating rapidly be linked to this too? Thank you for reading this I look forward to any responses.

Do you get any kind of beeps when the motherboard powers on? If you have a speaker, there should be a beep or series of beeps. Also, do you have access to borrow another PSU? To test the motherboard is working correctly, you only need to plug in the 24 pin and cpu 4/8 pin.

Also, it is possible the CPU overheating, but usually not that early. Do you have any thermal paste to reinstall the heatsink?
