The more I research, the more confused I've become. I'm leaning toward getting an almost extinct Panasonic Plasma TC-P50S60 for $700 or so. It's a little more $ than I want to spend, but is seems like a good choice for picture quality and performance.

Desires are:

  • Price $550 or slightly more
    50 inch or more
    1080p
    low lag (~30 millisecond-ish)
    good picture quality

It doesn't need to be a smart TV, or have wifi, or have tons of inputs. No 3D needed.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. :)

That's a good choice of tv there. Some things to consider before buying plasma, although they produce excellent color, black levels and picture quality. There needs to be a burn in period, 30-50 hours or so. Something on a loop that changes frequently. Or don't watch something like sportcenter or pause the tv for too long. Although the newer plasma's don't suffer from these affects as some of the older ones did, you can still practice these techniques.
