Computer Upgrade Questions

First a little disclaimer: I have quite a few questions and thought it would be best to put then in one post so any help on any one out multiple questions would be awesome! I am also not super adept at computer building and such so forgive me for that please.

I currently have an acer Predator ag3610-ur10p for gaming. I will link the specs here:

Currently I have a problem with my power supply. I believe I just need a new one. Knowing that and having some cash from Christmas I decided I wanted to upgrade the graphics card also. I believe I will be going with the gtx 770. My current case is not big enough to fit the 770 so I decided to get an actual gaming car along with the case which brings me to my first question. I want to keep as much of the old computers components as possible because I am on a tight budget. I have looked around and I can't find the type of motherboard that it has. Would I be able to take my mother board and put it in a normal gaming case? Also will I be able to run the gtx770 on the motherboard?

This is mostly separate from the first part but still about upgrading my computer. I was looking at the monitor I should get in a few months after I get the gtx770 and have stumbled upon the 1440p Korean monitors. I then had an idea. Rather than first buying the graphics card I could buy the monitor and temporarily use my brothers old gtx280 until I get enough to get the monitor. Because the gtx280 is only 60 bucks I was also thinking I could buy another one and run then sli and possibly a third and put off the gtx770 for a while so I could either get a nice keyboard or maybe get the 780 and in the mean time get.the monitor. Once I got the new card I would sell the graphics cards to someone for a slight loss but it seems with it. I have read about sli and whether or not it is worth it and I am torn. I know it is hard to make comparisons but I was wondering if someone could tell me how dual and triple sli gtx280 world perform. Just an estimate would be helpful. Also would my current board support sli? There are 3 slots for graphics cards so I assume so but I wanted to make sure.

Sorry for the huge chunks of text. I would really appreciate all help. Thank you!

Your processor should be able to keep up without much of a problem, and in the future if you are worried about it, you can upgrade the MB / CPU at that time. For now you should be fine.

Limits (other than SLI) currently would just be the ability to overclock. Neither your MB or CPU support it. But that shouldn't be an issue.
Question 1.

Most OEM Motherboards (Dell, Acer, HP, Etc.....) are Mini-ATX, and will fit in any standard aftermarket case, excluding Micro-ATX cases (which I doubt you are looking at, since you are looking to go bigger :)

Question 2:

Judging from the picture of the inside of your case, you will have no problems using the new GPU in that. You will obviously have to remove the old GPU, and re-use the slot.

Question 3.

Yes, you could use the GTX280, however performance will be horrendous at 1440p.

Question 4.

Your MB (from the picture on tiger direct) only has a single PCIe x16 slot, so SLI would not be possible.

Hey itzdanielp
Thanks for the answers that was very helpful. It's too bad that my motherboard doesn't have another PCie x 16 slot but it is a good thing that I won't have to upgrade the mobo when I get a new case. I had a couple more questions if you're up too it.

When I upgrade to the 770 will there be anything hold it back? I have heard that if your processor is slow that it can act as a bottleneck and slow down your graphics card. I think that my processor is decent though so I'm not worried about it, but us there anything else?

Last question is would there be any real benefit to upgrading my motherboard if I don't plan on using sli?

Thanks again for the help! I'm new to the forum and I didn't see a reply option so I guess I submit an answer, is that right?

I didn't realize I wouldn't be able to over clock it. Time to reconsider which 770 to get. Thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it.
