HD 7870 Crossfire same clockspeed?

Hi,
I have the:
MSI R7870 OC 2GB Twin Frozr III (1000MHz) and the
Gigabyte HD 7870 Windforce 3x (1100MHz).
Do i need to clock them both at the same speed, or doesn't it matter? I won't be a problem for me to clock the MSI to 1100MHz as well, so please tell me if it would help

nah they dont need to be the same but because of my ocd i clock my 7970's the same

you do not need the same clock speed, as using dual cards will clock both cards by defualt to the lower clockspeed. the thing you do need (at least with nvidia cards) is the same amount of vram on both cards

so basically if you wanna overclock, install both cards, and overclocking will effect both cards, but typically one will fail at a lower clock, and so you will be limited to that specific clock

I'm pretty sure they will only run as fast as the slower cards clocks are. So both would run at 1000mhz core, unless you raise your MSI card to match your Gigabyte.

Both SLI and CF configurations will synchronise all cards to the speed of the slowest.
It will probably not be a problem if you overclock the MSI card by 100MHz but you should run the system with just that card installed to test stability before adding the second, multi card configurations have enough potential problems as it is without adding an unstable overclock into the mix.

you can, but typically if you arent getting crashes, you are fine and may even be able to clock higher if you truly desire

Although I'd stick with both cards at 1100MHz...But then again, I'm a lazy oveclocker.
