So my question is seeing as the model was avaliable with the i5 would i be able to upgrade?

Solution quilciri Jan 9, 2014 Make sure to get an Ivy bridge I5 (3k series) or Sandy bridge (2k). Haswell (4k) is a different socket and will not work in that board.
