I recently acquired a 60gb SSD. I am trying to set up my dell inspiron 531 (3800+, 4GB) so that the OS (vista home premium 64) is on the ssd and all other data is on a separate drive.

I have moved through the properties menu the location of the user folder trees. As I install programs, I will select the hdd for install location.

Is there anything else I can do to limit data on the SSD? 60gb isn't a lot of space considering the vista install took about 35gb of it.

Thanks.

Well you can't upgrade from 32 to 64 it as you said a wipe. So all you need to do is install Vista 64 on the SSD, then plug back in your old HD then format it once that done you can use it for your data and program files.

It you really want to be sure the easiest thing to do is just unplug the old standard HD. Then when you reinstall Vista it will only see the SSD. After he install and update plug in your old standard HD and the system will see it.

I'm sorry I didn't give the whole story. The original set up was using Vista 32. The original set-up also had some data corruption due to a virus. The plan was/is to wipe disk the original drive and make it the location for data and programs, and use the ssd to make the upgrade to vista 64.
