2gb ram with 4gb does it work?

i already have a kingston 4gb ddr3 1333mhz in my system and i want to install another kingston 2gb ddr3 1333mhz ram on Intel DH67CL motherboard . tell me if there are problems with this kind of upgrade? what should i do?


specs:
intel i3 2100 @ 3.1ghz
intel DH67CL motherboard
4gb ddr3 ram 1333mhz
ATi Radeon 5750 512mb gddr5
1TB seagate barracuda
CM extreme 500 watt Psu

Short answer: Yes, it will work, and Windows will see a grand total of 6GB of DDR3 1333 memory

Long answer: While it will work, it is not ideal. I am not certain on the exact details of the H67 chipset, but there is a chance that the ram will only run in single channel mode which will hurt performance. Also, if the 2 sticks of ram do not run at the same clock speed then they may default at a higher Cas number, or lower the Ram frequency to compensate, both of which could hurt performance.

A 4GB stick is not much more expensive than a 2GB stick, so unless this 2GB stick is free or a spare then just go with a 4GB stick with the same CL and Hz rating as what you are currently using. Not running duel channel is a 20-40% performance...
