my wd mybook essential

my wd mybook essential was too much to lug around so i took it apart (carefully) and its in my system, my bios detects it but windows does not.

Are there any files or data on the disk that you are trying to preserve? Because that is near impossible with a ED My Book Essential out of its original case. The case adds a layer of encryption that is almost impossible to crack by a normal user.

If you have no data or files worth saving, go into Disk Management and right click on the drive where the striped box appears in the lower right area of the pane. When you right click on the drive, see if "Initialize Drive" is one of the options. If so, select this and go ahead and initialize the drive.

Next, right click again and select "New Simple Volume". This will...
