while re-installing windows 7 the laptop froze to the point that i had to restart it and now it says"setup is now starting and then it comes up an error and restarts again only to keep repeating the cycle. I have tried pressing the F buttons and followed the normal course of things but to no avail. has anyone a solution for me other than throwing it in the bin?

Give it to me before you throw it in the bin.

Have you tried to reinstall Windows again?

There are some serious communications issues in this conversation...

I don't mean to offend you, but I can't understand a word you're saying. :(

Hi Morbus,
Sorry to have confused you But no one was more so than me however, after the power cut I restarted the computer (bearing in mind that the installation was half way through when the power cut happened) The message that came up was "Quote " the computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows click "OK" to restart the computer and then restart the installation. "Unquote" Then after a while it say "Setup will continue after restarting your computer". The next message says. "Setup is starting services". Then it restarts and all the above "Quotes" appear again and then again and so on. Anyway I thought to myself after exhausting the website, I will see if some of these discs I have with drivers on them will do anything and if not it will definitely go in the BIN then something different was going eventually I took the disc out and windows OS in and see if it would behave as before by playing silly games on me. EUREKA it installed windows without a hitch although it seems to working slower than before, but hey at least it is working no thanks to my knowledge but stubborn head, so I say thank you for being there Morbus and I hope you understood what I was trying to explain to you. Well, I'm glad it all worked out anyway Johnie, glad I was of help.

Just some suggestions after reinstalling Windows: make sure all your drivers are installed. If your computer is slow, it may be because some of the drivers are not installed. Running windows update should install most of them, but refer to the laptop's manufacturer website to make sure you got them all.

I dont understand half of that but that's what we said early on in the thread "put windows OS(disk) in" that's how you restart install.

I will search for more drivers as you suggested later today. I had tried to reinstall the OS from fresh before but it refused, hence the route as explained earlier.
