Ok Im looking at possibly SLI two of these cards or selling it and getting 1 770 4gb or 1 r9 280x. Im not to worried about heat as Ive got a lot of fans in my storm trooper case. My PSU is a V1000, So my question is what should I do and why? Thanks!

So if the 770 can't utilize it why do they come with it? But I guess since the 770 can't the 760 can't also. But what what about in sli? And yea I've been watching the 280x come and go alot on Newegg. Also I don't know what cryptocoin is lol."

As Hoffa78 said, it is marketing. They can sell a product with "more power" for more money. However as I said before the 256-bit bus limits the effectiveness of the memory. Think of it in a crude example like this: The memory is a river, the speed it runs at is how fast it moves, the more it has allows more water to flow, and the memory bus is like a dam that doesn't block off the while river. A 256-bit bus will be a smaller, thinner dam, being very effective at allowing a medium amount of...

I should also note that The 770 would probably be the Gigabyte 770 4gb OC windforce edition, essentially just the 770 version of my 760. And the R9 280x would probably be an Asus TOP DCUii edition. My motherboard is a Asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0, FX8350 and my Ram is a Gskill sniper 16gb 1866 lat 9. If any of that matters. I run 2 1080p monitors currently and In the future I may go to 2 1440p monitors. Basically like most people im looking to play games on high/ultra for a good amount of time while these cards can. Currently im playing games like Skyrim, FarCry3, and Splinter Cell Blacklist. Thanks for any an all help!

The bandwidth of the 770 can't even utilize 4GB VRAM fully so I wouldn't recommend getting one of those. The ASUS DCUII R9 280X http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw=&_osacat=27386&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xasus+r9+280x&_nkw=asus+r9+280x&_sacat=27386&_from=R40 is definitely the best option if you are planning to run a multiple monitor setup. Unfortunately, they are hard to find due to the cryptocoin craze. You may find one on ebay but they seem to be sold out everywhere else.

Eyefinity has better drivers than Surround does and the bandwidth of the R9 280X can fully utilize it's 3GB VRAM. Plus the ASUS DCUII cooler is top of the line.

the 256-bit memory bus on the 770 really limits the memory capability so that the 4GB on it would be kind of a waste, so if you want more than 2GB of video memory, I would go 280X or if you can afford it the 780, which is a beast of a card. Keep in mind that 2GB VRAM is more than enough for the next few years for single monitor 1080p gaming, I'd say in maybe 3-4 years it may start to limit you, but with my 2GB 770 I can run any game on max/ultra with the framerate almost always staying above 60. You may have trouble with your 280X though, I got one and it was broken in under 24 hours after installation into my system! Many other have had this problem too, specifically with the Asus R9 280X DirectCU II TOP edition. Good luck!

Ive been pondering over which I would benefit more from Vram vs memory bus. I've seen reviews all over of the new radon cards being DOA. So it comes to get one that's known to work or try my luck for a better potentially performing card. I know my 760 plays my games with no hiccups that I can tell. Everything is smooth on it. Which is why I was considering to sli it. I'm really just looking for something that I can have for a bit to come. Yea 780 and up and 290 and up cost to much for me to look at.

It's all marketing my friend. You considered buying one didn't you? =) Uninformed people have purchased hundreds of them but you went looking for information and advice. Kudos to you.

A 256-bit bus will be a smaller, thinner dam, being very effective at allowing a medium amount of water (aka 2GB VRAM) to flow through quickly and efficiently, but with more water (4GB/3GB VRAM) and the same size opening(256-bit), only the same amount of water can get through as before. This means that the 256-bit bus will limit the usage of the 4GB, and while the extra VRAM wouldn't hurt, it really isn't worth the extra $50 it would cost. The 384-bit bus is like a wider opening, not really making a difference when there is medium water (2GB VRRAM), but when there is more water and amount of memory, it can really make a difference. I hope the analogy helped you!
