Hi there,

I bought a GTX 770 to replace my 7870 which I sold to a friend, but I'm having trouble getting the install to work. I went into control panel, device manager, 7870 and clicked uninstall/delete drivers causing the screen to go a funny resolution like it should. When I installed the 770 I was left with nothing but a black screen with a - in the top left corner and B2 in the bottom right corner. I tried to enter the bios and got the same result except with entering setup… in the bottom left corner.

Any ideas? and thank you for your help.

EDIT: I'm currently using a XFX 7870 GHz edition and I have purchased a Gigabyte GTX770 (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681...)

Can you run your computer with no card at all, i.e. is there a mobo plug in? If so, use that to get the latest drivers.

Did you restart your PC after uninstalling the HD 7870 driver and after installing the driver of GTX 770. Try inserting your Windows DVD and do a system restore.

Yes and I did not install the driver as a GPU is supposed to work without its drivers, just not very well. I sent in an RMA.

When you uninstalled, it seems like you took a funky route to uninstalling them. The best way is to control panel-uninstall a program and find anything with amd or ati on it and delete it. If the way you installed it was the problem and you sold that card and have no way of getting a display we're in a corner here. Do you have an OS disk that you can attempt to boot from the CD?

I still have my old card, but I uninstalled it not only through and catalyst, but also with device manager.

The 7870 will boot the computer just fine as normal then prompt me to install drivers, but the GTX 770 won't even display the splash screen just the letters B2 and a -

searched your problem and the first 5 results all had the same results, BIOS update solved it. First update your motherboard BIOS, if that doesn't solve it then update your graphics card BIOS.

I have an MSI Mobo and as far as I understood MSI Utilities is what updates your BIOS which I searched and installed everything that was available. Is there another place to get a mono update?

you have to go to the MSI website and search their BIOS versions for your exact motherboard.

MSI's guide on how to do it.
