I have 16gb of ram installed in my computer however my computer says i only have 8gb of ram working. I went to bios to check it out and the computer is detecting the sticks of ram but it is not using them I guess. I would love some help with this. I have some pictures to help explain what I am talking about if they are necessary. My Mobo is an Asrock Z77 extreme4 and I have 4 sticks installed

Are the sticks all the same type of RAM or is it two ram sets at least? For dual channel, you may want to put the same kind of stick in slot 1 and 3 and the other in slot 2 and 4.

Check if the bus speed of your Ram modules is same or not? Same problem occured to me too. Or another reason is that your Ram modules might be damaged.

Well for that see the Ram box or guide book or there might be a paper with specifications of Ram. Or you could go to BIOS and try to find it there. It should be 1333MHz or something like that. Check of all the modules if they arent the same that might be your problem.

Each stick will have a sticker or it should and it should at least have pc3-##### or the actual speed of the ram.
