I am building a new PC and getting Arma III and I plan to get the Radeon 7870 GPU. Everyone recommends to get the i5 3570K but I was wondering if there was any better or cheaper option? I've heard both good and bad about the AMD's 8 core processors and was about to get the FX 8320 but I'm not sure if it would run Arma well enough.

Help on which CPU would be the best choice for Arma III would be greatly appreciated. I dont have the biggest budget for this PC build but im willing to pay for the i5 3750K if nothing else is remotely close to its performance with games like Arma and other big games like it. Thanks in advance for any help!

The following should help you out. The ARMA 3 benchmark pairs up many CPUs along with a GTX Titan so you should be able to see which CPUs can bottleneck the graphics card.

Additionally, below are benchmark result with overclocked & underclocked core i7-4770k and FX-8350.

Here is the deal... You will get fan boys/girls from both sides of the house. I have owned Intel before and while there may be a performance difference between the two I can assure you there is nothing wrong with AMD and there CPU's.

Do you think the 8320 is equivalent to the 3570K? Or at least close? It would save me some money and I've read good things about it... I don't pick and choose sides, I just want the best bang for my buck and if I can save some money in the process im even happier.

In Arma there's no question that you'd want an Intel chip, the Arma games are notorious for low CPU usage, so the stronger single threaded performance of Intel will be much better for Arma

The AMD CPUs will suffer in these games (a small portion of games), but are fine for most other games

For video editing/rendering and streaming, the 8320 will be better

As shown in my post above the Intel CPUs can beat the AMD CPUs. However, they are generally a little more expensive. Not by much though. The last time I check prices for the FX-8350 it was $200 and an i5-4670k (not in the benchmarks) was $220. Plus whatever the price difference for the motherboards.

For more CPU performance comparison in other games click on the link below, then uncheck the box for Articles so that you will only see the links related to Gaming Benchmarks.
