Hey guys, I just upgraded to an i5 4440 from an FX-6300.

BF4 is so much more playable now. (Never ever looking back to amd).

However, if I lower the resolution, i am getting the same framerates. why? even at 1366x768 gives me the exact same framerates. :/

This doesn't sound like cpu bottleneck to me.

System info:

I5 4440
HD 7850 2GB
HYPERX BLACK 1600mhz 2X4GB.

If it's my GPU i should be getting higher frames when I OC.

Vsync is OFF

You need more GPU horsepower. 2GB it's just enough for 1080p resolution, meaning that lowering your screen resolution won't have a big effect on your GPU's performance. I would suggest to OC, overclocking speeds will lead to a faster rendering of images, which translates into more FPS.

Overclocking the 7850 didnt give me any boost. I'm not gaming on 1080p. it's just 1680x1050. Lowering it doesnt make a difference. So I don't think this is a GPU or CPU related problem.

Also realized something else. Setting it to Ultra settings with 4XAA does not decrease the FPS. Could it be the game itself?

What the heck does that mean?

Having V-sync on can lower framerates. When you lower the framerate that low, you are depending more on the CPU than the GPU. To be perfectly honest, if you had just overclocked your FX 6300 and bought a more suitable GPU, you wouldn't be having this problem. The 7850 is a lower midrange card and BF4 needs powerful hardware to run well.

Dude, I checked again, Vsync was the culprit!!!!!!! After turning it off, finally having stable frame rates now. Thanks!!!

I just solved the problem. It actually was because of V-Sync turned on.
To be really honest, based on my first hand experience. the FX-6300 is Nothing compared the the i5 4440 Haswell I have now. The difference in gameplay is truly that great.

I have done lots of of tests on the 6300 to see if it really shines when overclocked. I only see a gain of a few frames at 4.5ghz. And that's when I am really carefully observing it using the fps counter. It's terrible.

Lol I knew it. V-sync will limit your fps to 60 to matter the card if it gets that high. But anything over 60 doesn't really matter as far as what you yourself are seeing. But V-sync can be a good thing cause 1st of all it prevents tears in the picture. Also even though some games like BF 3 had it you can set a fps threshold for the game to try to maintain so it's not jumping all over the place.

Graphics Card Master? Really?

hehehe yep,

If it's my GPU i should be getting higher frames when I OC.

please regale me with tales of how you know what the FARK that means or how it is possible?
Clearly he's not bottlenecked at the cpu so what's the problem here?

If you oc and you don't get more frames yer a retard, it's really simple, I was conveying shock.
Perhaps I should I should change it to say master of explaining shock to the lil people.

Just kidding, good answer. on the vsync it's pretty funny that he said it was off then you got best answer. I love helping people who answer right away without looking. Hilarious.
