My problem started a few months back, the pc started crashing at random moments. The mouse icon would get stuck as either the writing icon or the extending icon and would turn into a rainbowish colour. When I ever that happened it ment a crash was incoming. I thought it might be my hdd but I ran a couple of programs and it said my hdd is healthy. One day the pc just wouldnt boot up windows, all I got was a black screen. Would have to restart if multiple times to get it to load. I thought it might be the gpu so I removed it and ran it with the onboard one. When it turned on it didnt crash but then again thats the problem, it wouldnt load up. Only when it wanted to. Bios always loads up fine so I dont think its the mobo or cpu. A friend said it might be a virus or that windows might be corrupt. When it first started to happen I ran all the anti virus test from trend micro and male ware bites and found nothing. Could it be that windows is corrupted and in need of repair or re-installation or do you guys think its something else? My desktop is at my dorm and I am not there right now or I would try repairing it right now. Was there today, thats when I removed the gpu. Going to test it at a friends when I can though he highly doubts its the gpu. Just looking for opinions on the issue, if you need to know more just ask.

if it was the psu wouldn't the computer just shut of by itself... I never experienced the computer just turning off or anything that would make me think it was the psu. There are no weird noises on start up either.
