two gtx 770s or one 780?

In my opinion Dual 770 will be stronger but it will heat up faster and it will consume more energy. Now if u are going for 780 u might as well gather 200 more dollars to buy 780ti which is strongest graphic card out there

Definitely, agreed.
But to be honest, if you are using a resolution up to 1080p (which is also what I am currently using) there is absolutely no need for a dual 770. I am using a 770-lightning which is topping the graphics in every single game I play.
What I honestly think is that anything stronger than a 770 or lets say 780 is absolutely exaggerated, and only for bragging.
If you intend to use a single monitor up to 1920*1080p or 1200p. Single 770 or if you really wanted 780 would be feasible and adequate.
Same goes for the AMD side, single 280X or 290 would be more than enough.
From the same direction, I'm personally waiting for the 290's to drop back down in price. You don't really NEED 2 770's, but if you plan on say eyefinity gaming on 3 monitors, then it may be a better idea. If the 2 770's are only like $50 more, get them, but realize that you could also buy a 780 now, and add another in the future when you need it.
