In trouble with RAID 5 not booting

Dear Experts,

I'm in real trouble. I have a Windows server 2003 with RAID5 that is setup with two logical drives. Logical Drive 0 is the boot disk and it has failed (it seems that both physical disks for drive 0 are showing an error and the drive has been downgraded according to the BOIS RAID configuration App). However it seems that logical drive 1 is still OK and that has a lot of data that I need (and haven't backed up recently).

I have tried and continue to try things like booting with a Unix live CD but on the versions I have used so far it doesn't see the hard disks.

I have thought about creating a new non-raid server 2003 setup on a clean machine and then putting this 2003 boot disk into my sick server as its boot disk.

Any thoughts are most welcome (apart from the obvious one that I'm an idiot for not having more regular backups). .

Regards

Eamon

Sorry - I am not great on terminology - I have 6 physical drives - these are setup as logical drive 0 (drive C:) and logical drive 1 (D:). Drive C is my boot disk but has failed and drive D is my data drive. In any event I have solved it now - I got a version of cd bootable Linux that worked well. If interested go to the following :
