I did a new build a few days ago with a Maximus VI Hero and an Intel i7 4770k. Everything appeared to be working just fine. Then, a couple days ago when booting it gave me some error about the cpu fan. I immediately tried to boot again and it worked fine, so I let it go. I also checked my cpu temps and all was fine.

Then today, a couple days later, my PC suddenly shutdown and will not boot or even post. When I push the on board power button, the error LED reads 00 and the cpu and psu fans start to spin and then stop. It repeats this until I switch the psu off.

I unplugged all other components to try to rule out issues. At this point I have nothing but the motherboard with 24pin and 8pin connectors, the cpu, heat sink and cpu fan plugged in. This is still giving the same result.

I should also note that the cpu led remains off.

Im at a loss for what to try next. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Edit: Took off the heat sink and took out cpu to check pins of the cpu and socket. Everything appeared fine visually.

I should have noted that the power supply is from my previous build. It has worked without fault for a few years, though I suppose it could have died. I have another small power supply and will try it with that one regardless.

Edit: Used another power supply. Plugged in nothing but the 24 pin and 8 pin. Same result.
