Please, help me. I have a deep respect for this community and trust in your advice and perspective.

I want to upgrade and cannot decide between the two. I very much like the MSI HAWK design and am considering the before-mentioned chipsets: R9 270x and GTX 760. In my country the 270x HAWK is cheaper by about 30% than the nVidia counterpart.

I am also concerned about the future of the AMD/ NVIDIA conflict. I've always been an nVidia fan but I recently see that a lot of people are complaining about support and about nVidia's attitude towards ripping off.

Are Ati cards reliable? Can we trust in Mantle and Freesync as opposed to nVidia's shady Gsync and vulturous market tactics?

THANK YOU

Solution
Yes, ATI cards are reliable but tend to use lots of power compared to a card from Nvidia. You should probably already be covered on your PSU but make sure that you have at least a 550 watt. The MSI R9 270X HAWK has an excellent cooler compared to that of other makers e.g. Gigabyte. If the GTX 760 is 30% more than the R9 270x, then it probably isn't worth the extra money. Both perform relatively close with Nvidia having better game support and drivers for games. Nvidia isn't ripping off it's just their marketing for a product with better game and driver support, ATI just tend to have lower prices to compete but if the price is much cheaper then it is worth going AMD. You can trust Mantle and freesync and are just as good as Nvidia...

If you consider better fps performance go for the 760 if you can. Overall 760 is 7% better in performance than 270x. (source - game-debate.com
Lets Compare :
R9 270x vs GTX 760
In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon R9 270X.The Radeon R9 270X has a 20 MHz higher core clock speed than the GeForce GTX 760, but the GeForce GTX 760 has 16 more Texture Mapping Units than the Radeon R9 270X. As a result, the GeForce GTX 760 exhibits a 14.1 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the Radeon R9 270X.The GeForce GTX 760 has 13.1 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the Radeon R9 270X, which means that the memory performance of the GeForce GTX 760 is slightly better than the Radeon R9 270X.

Also, 270x is not a bad card at all. If it fits your budget u can go for it. It also has a fantastic 1080p gaming experience.

As I saw it, AMD is gaining market support not only through the future of Mantle, but especially for being in both consoles ATM. I currently see nVidia a little stranded, always launching new drivers that clearly state that the current gen is not well optimized.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but as much as I love nVidia, i don't trust them anymore. But because I've never had an ATI, I don't know what to expect.

My budget is flexible, reaching around 300 dollars. I don't wanna go full Last Light 4k 16 QSAA, I just want a good card to replace my ancient GTX275 Gainward GS monster.

I've asked here because I don't feel like anything above 760 GTX really is worth the money. After 3 years I know that an overhaul will render my purchase obsolete. I really dont know if NOW is a good time to upgrade, TBH. But i don't wanna keep on waiting forever.

Thank you very much

For the Price/Performance of the two cards the MSI R9 270x HAWK is your best option. Since you don't want to wait a long time then go for it! The R9 270x can handle most games at 1080p at high-max so waiting any longer is not beneficial for a $300 card.
