Would it be possible to take the OS from one of the new next gen consoles and put it in a pc? I've been wondering if it's been done and how to do it.
Thanks

The XBone runs 3 operating systems at once. The first is called XBox OS and has historically been based on a stripped down version of Windows that's tweaked for a single application domain and handles the foreground gameplay, the second is based on Windows 8 and is optimized for multiple running apps and handles most of the background tasks, the third is a VMM based on Hyper-V which ensures that they play nicely together.

The PS4 runs an OS that's based off of FreeBSD 9, but little more is known about it.

As for whether or not its possible... I imagine that it's technically possible given some extreme modification, but unlikely.

Realistically, no, it is not possible.

If you had all the source code, lots of free time, and a lots of help then maybe.

In other words no. Its impossible. Not to mention pointless.
