i had a R7260x which crashed and i then got r9270x and im using them with the same PSU that is quite low end, it is a 500W, but not a good one, which is why i have ordered a zalman 600W, but my r9270 at the moment does not seem to be as good in gaming as my 7260?? is it a bad card or is my psu just decreasing the performance, please help.

A low end PSU will decrease performance as the GPU will downthrottle itself to keep from getting damaged. Get the new PSU and check it again and post back if you're still having problems.
