I am looking to build my own PC for less then $500. I currently have a Surface Pro which I will be selling and then using that money to purchase the components for a new PC. This computer will be used for web browsing, word processing and using programs from the adobe suite (Photoshop, Illustrator etc.).

This will be the first computer I build and therefore was wondering what you believe are the best components to buy within this budget. I greatly appreciate all responses :)

That looks good, but that GPU is fairly weak. http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/2zwqg This will give you a better video card, similar quality motherboard, 8gb of slightly faster RAM, and the same CPU.

Thanks for your answer :) I have also posted this in the components section as I believe I will receive more responses there. I was wondering if you knew of any good/similar alternative for the ASUS M5897?

I was looking at different options as not many Australian stores sold the Asus. I have slightly edited your build with the following specs, what do you think?

AMD FX 6300 - $139
ASUS M5897 - $128.15
2x 2GB Transcend DDR3 1333 RAM - $0 (from another pc)
WD 500GB Caviar Blue 7200rpm - $56
Radeon 7750 - $89
ATX 550W PSU - $0 (from another pc)
