SpeedFan - Can I Use This With Dell Inspiron 660?

I just purchased a Dell Inspiron 660.

I'm trying to figure out if SpeedFan will work with this computer. So far, I'm only able to monitor the
speeds of the cpu and case fans. I can't increase or decrease either one.

The cpu fan has a 4 pin connector, the case fan a 3 pin connector. I read that Dell doesn't make any provision for regulating fan speed with it's motherboards - is this true?

What's interesting is my other computer is a ten year old HP, which has no problem using SpeedFan.

That's what I thought.

I started using SpeedFan on the HP when the fans' would go over the top, and not slow down. The Core i3 3240 in the Dell should run much cooler than a Pentium 4, so hopefully lowering fan speed that's out of control won't be an issue

BTW, you're correct about HP. The mobo in my HP was manufactured by ASUS.
