http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2vLDw is the 650 wattage psu good enough, or should i get a higher wattage psu to be safe? i heard 2 different things, that haing to much wattage psu is bad for the system but then i heard that the system uses as much wattage as it needs. So which one of it is it?

We all have dreams ;-) When that day comes, you will need a new PSU though lol :p Have fun with your new system! I have a 770 and an i7 and love the performance I get out of them, you have a nice setup with that Haswell i5.

when you do this you will need more power. by the way,in answer to part of your question, there is no such thing as too much psu damaging your system.the system will indeed use what it needs.whether 400 or 1400w the voltage output remains the same.a component will only draw what its designed to draw in terms of current.

Actually putting it together yourself isn't too difficult, there are so many good guides on the net to help you do it as well. The difficult part is troubleshooting when something goes wrong or a step is missed, but that is a great use for the Tom's forums. There is a TON of experience here and a lot of people that want to help. I'd say read as much as you can around the internet, watch some videos of people putting stuff together, and give it a shot, it is the best way to learn. You most likely won't damage anything while trying if you are just careful and use common sense, and if you aren't sure about anything, just ask :) Whichever you choose to do, good luck and enjoy your new system :)
