I don't know whether to be worried about my temps or not because there are so many contradicting threads about the temperatures of an AMD FX 8320. I'm thinking if I give you guys my temps maybe you might be able to tell me whether I should reseat my cooler or not.

BTW, I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and the CPU is at stock clock (3.5Ghz).

Idle temps
Socket = 34C - 38C
Core = 15C - 18C

Stress test temps (Prime95 for 1 hour, while surfing the net)
Socket = 60C
Core = 42.9C

Are these ok?

Please remember that AMD temps are very different to Intel temps before you answer.

Your core temps at idle are impossible - but that's just because the FX series has bad reporting at sub-30 degree temperatures. The socket temp for idle is close to what your chip is most likely really sitting at.

That being said, those are completely normal temperatures. FX series are designed to turn off around the 90 degree mark to preserve the chip. You're operating well within the normal bounds of operation.

Thanx Azarel

Craig? Are you sure you have your numbers right? From looking around the internet the number that appears the most is 72C. Some people are even saying that you should be worried if your FX 8 series chip goes past the 55C mark.

Can anyone else clear this up? I mean I'd love it to be 90C, if that's the case I'm gonna OC the hell out of this chip, but I'm being realistic here.
