ok here is the situation. While playing games on my pc I seem to be getting a random pause and its usually about 1 second long or so. Its never really bothered me that much because it doesn't happen that often. I bought battlefield 4 when it came out and I started up multiplayer and I started really noticing these pauses/stutters. Well when I pulled up the cpu/gpu usage chart in game using the command perfoverlay.drawgraph 1 I noticed that whenever the pause would happen there would be a cpu spike. So I made sure all of my drivers were up do date, defragged my hard drive, unparked my cores, made sure there was no malware on my pc and finally I upgraded to windows 8 and that didn't help. So I finally wiped everything but the os off of my hard drive ,still no luck. Recently I orded a new motherboard and put it in my pc. I booted it up and updated bios and installed everything that needed to be installed for the new board. Started up bf4 and the spikes happended 3 times as often as they did before. Im out of ideas and would really appreciate some help. The temps on my cpu are fine(Just thought id throw that in there). One more thing though, My cpu power cable is a 4x4 pin, my new motherboard does except 8pin but only 1 4pin fits, would this have any affect?.

my specs
intel i72660k stock speed.
gtx580
1tb 7200rpm hard drive
asrock extreme 3 motherboard
8gb ddr3 ram

Only one 4 pin fits out of the 8 pin connector? I find this tough to believe. Sounds like that could be the issue right there. Try again the one connector only fits one side. The other connector is not keyed correctly so it looks deceiving. The second 4 wires should all have notched pins while the motherboard there may be a couple square holes. I didn't thing it would fit in my motherboard either but it turns out you can put a round peg in a square hole.

I'm thinking it might be my hdd because I've noticed that as soon as a bf4 map loads up I have no detailed textures and they come in about 30seconds into the game, and when they do I have a huge CPU hit
