Hey everyone,

I'm in the process of ordering a new gaming pc and I was wondering if you guys have any comments/suggestions on the components that I have picked.

The build is as followed:

CPU: AMD FX-9590 Black Edition Octa Core CPU Socket (here)
GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 770 OC 4GB (here)
Motherboard: CROSSHAIR V FORMULA-Z (here)
RAM: Kingston HyperX Predator Beast - 16 GB : 2 x 8 GB (here)
PSU: XFX ProSeries (Black Edition) 750W Fully Modular 80+ Gold Power Supply (here)
Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D (here)
Storage: Still haven't decided.. probably 250gb SSD (**EDIT**, I already have a 2TB HDD for my media stuff)

P.S. Some of the decisions have been made because of the offers that the items are available under at the moment.

Thanks for checking this out!

Drop it down to a 8320 (or a 8350 if you must), and heavily overclock it; adding a great CPU cooler is a must. The 8320 seems to be the best price-performance AMD CPU currently, and anything past that is generally flushing money down the drain.

With that money saved, grab a GTX 780/780 Ti, or a r9 290.

Go with a 250GB SSD, if you need more space for media and the like, add a standard hard drive.

Thanks for the quick response!

I'm not really good with overclocking stuff.. Everything I've bought so far has been overclocked by the provider, etc. Although, it can't be too hard to find a trusted over-clocking guide online.

Do you have any suggestions on what's a good CPU fan? I thought whatever I buy comes with a fan anyway. I was gonna add the arctic silver 5 as well.

I already have a 2TB WD for media stuff - Should be fine!

- It's a must to have a good CPU cooler. The best bang for your buck is certainly the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO. But if you go the money, pick my personal favorite, the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. It cools better than some AIO coolers like the H100 and is far more quieter. Plus, it's cheaper and you don't risk any liquid leaking into your computer. The Noctua NH-D14 is also excellent and performs the same as the PH-TC14PE.

- For the case, you could go with the mid-tower version of the 750D, the Obsidian 650D, and still got plenty of space for all these components. You would save some money in the process.

- I recommend that you buy an HDD and a SSD. You can't have only and SSD for storage, especially with a gaming PC. Put at least your OS and security suite on your SSD and all your games and programs on the HDD. For the SSD, I suggest the 840 EVO from Samsung.

Have fun building !

I would have to second the Noctua NH-D14 as well, great cooler. It's a tad bit expensive, but well worth it. But if you can't justify spending that much on the cooler, as said, the CM Hyper 212 EVO will suffice.

That's great that you already have a HDD.

Most people would recommend getting a 120GB SSD; with the OS/few games on there, and putting everything else on the HDD.

But what I found has worked for me, I have a single 250GB SSD, I have my OS on there (obviously), and a fair amount of large games. I don't have much media to store, so this works perfectly for me, as I was tired uninstalling and reinstalling games onto my SSD. And the reason why I put the games on the SSD is so taht the games would load faster; opposed to slower loading when the games are stored on the HDD.
