Alright. So a few days ago I dropped my external hd. It stopped working and after a little bit of research I found that the arm was probably jammed.
Yesterday I finally got around to fixing it. Opened the hd up, fixed the arm, and sealed it up. I then plugged it into my laptop and all of my files were still there intact. Awesome. Foolishly, I then unplugged it thinking I could plug it into my desktop to get my files off it. Nope!
Plugged it into my desktop and started getting a message telling me the parameter is incorrect. Then I started getting a messages telling me I need to format it.
Now I'm at the point where I can't access the drive at all. I see it in the device manager and my computer. I don't see it in the disk management however.
I also cannot get into it. When I click the drive I see a loading bar in the address bar that loads all the way to the end and then stops, never fully loading.
Also when I try to load disk management, it just says "connecting to virtual disk service" at the bottom. If I load disk management without my external hd plugged in, everything loads like normal.
Anyone know what is going on or how I could fix this? Thanks.
